The Wright Notes

As we journey closer to our Christmas celebration, I want to think about the angels for a moment. Luke 2:13 says that a great company of angels appeared and were praising God. Why did the angels have such excitement? The simple answer is Jesus Christ, Immanuel was born! Think about these names for our Savior and you can better understand why the angels were praising God.

JESUS - The One who saves us from our sins and brings us forgiveness from God. He made it possible for us to repent and turn back toward God in our lives. The One who came to cleanse us becasue we could not clean up our own act!

CHRIST - The One God sent for us. The Messiah who comes as the fulfillment of every promise God made to humanity. The Holy One divinely anointed to bring us redemption so we can relate with God in a personal way. The One who came so we can receive the full blessings that God desires for us to have!

IMMANUEL - The One who came from heaven to earth to show us the way, but came to bring earth to heaven. He is God living among us, being with us, and abiding in us. The One who makes life much sweeter in the valleys and the mountaintops!

No wonder the angels were rejoicing. We can, too. Rejoice, rejoice, for God came to be with us, for us, and in us. The personal relationship with God helps in this life and the one to come. Do you know this Jesus, this Christ, this Immanuel? If not, can you really say you are ready for Christmas? Our Christmas celebration reminds us that Christ is alive and will return to take us home to be with God for all of eternity. I hope you have booked your reservations on the glory train!
