The Cross of Christ - Christ The King

The King:
- Most serious accusation.
- Enthronement of a new king.

Servant King:
- Came to serve.
- Ransom for all.

Heavenly King:
- Splendid kingdom.
- Spiritual investment.

Glorious King:
- Love God & neighbor.
- Not of this world.

Your King:
- Wants to be your King.
- Give Him your heart.

Here Comes The Critics:
* 3 sources of ridicule.
* How does Jesus respond to his tormentors?

Forgives Those Who Hurt God (vv39-40):
* Jesus is not shakened.
* Prays for forgiveness.
* Petition for mercy.

Frustrates Those Who Harden Themselves (vv41-43):
* Wanted to provoke him.
* They had hardened their hearts.
* Sheep know Jesus’ voice.

Favors Those Who Honor Him (Luke 23:39-43):
* A saved criminal.
* A scornful criminal.
* Christ honors those who call on his name.

Worshipping The King:
* Not the Pied Piper.
* His mission was salvation.
* Worship crucified King.

The Cross:
* Not understand the life...
* Without understanding the death.
* Model of humility.

Long & Lonely Endurance Of Shame:
* Most cruel & shameful.
* Christ was an outsider.
* Man of Sorrows.

Lawless & Despicable Exit To Death:
* Jesus was a “worm."
* Offered no resistance.
* Led like a lamb to slaughter.

Loving & Legitimate Extension Of Reconciliation:
* Not a victim.
* To save & reconcile.
* Wounds compel us.

Response To God’s Love:
* Almost all is accomplished.
* One thing left.
* For YOU to respond.

Give Up Everything For Christ’s Sake (v33):
- What to give up?
- Count your blessings.

What Is The Cost:
- Disciple is Christ’s servant.
- Not a cream puff Christian.
- Be strong in the Lord.

Compassion:
- Outpouring of sympathy.
- Ministry of presence.

Commitment:
- Doing what you said you would do.
- In spite of danger.
- Follow through on your promises.

Taking Up The Mantle:
- Not perfect.
- Became faithful.
- Christ receives the best of our love!
